Avenue Q in Los Angeles Discount Code!

Hey all,

So as you all now (probably) know, I'm in advertising, and Avenue Q is running an ad with us for the next two weeks! Use this code to get ANY tickets for $50 (I think they are normally $80-$90 for orchestra)...

Code: 11476
website: http://centertheatregroup.org/tickets/production.aspx?performanceNumber=4352

P.S. PLEASE pass this along to any of your theater-loving friends, it would really help me if people went to the show under this code (plus hello, crazy discountage!)

Thanks!

So sad :(

My favorite coffee shop in the east village is closing. My bud Alissa and I used to go there at least 5 days a week after our contract ended with antenna audio. The most eclectic of the eclectic came there, from the homeless to wall street brokers, aging hipsters, hippy granola lesbionic co-op workers, and everyone else. I loved it, to me it was the embodiement of diversity in NYC. And now it's going to be gone. And in its place? A family-oriented strollers-welcome cafe. Blasphemy.

And they are also trying to shut down the eagle and the lonestar in san francisco (info here: http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/listing/Save-the-SF-Eagle-and-Hole-in-The-Wall/san-francisco-ca/0209a2ab-1975-4db7-a4e9-b9d806044677 ) So my question is, where the hell are all the people who go to these places? I called the entertainment commission today, and I'll be calling the planning commission tomorrow in SF, the bear community losing the Lonestar is like the Muslims losing mecca, as far as I'm concerned.

These things make me very sad.

A way to get out the message

Average lifespan with HIV in US is 24 years. This is the article I read today, and it's pretty much what I had estimated previously from what I could read online about the disease. Today, still, if you are diagnosed with HIV, you only get 24 years. With the largest group of new infections being what, 18-24 year olds, most of these kids won't live past 50. Past 50. I think this fact, more than anything else, is what really should hit home why you really, really don't want to get this disease. Social stigma, quality of life, cost, etc. All those things matter, but don't make for a message as clear as you will lose out on 30 years of life. 24 years from the day you are diagnosed, you will be in the ground, dead. It fucking sucks. And it's reality. Play safe out there friends, and don't be afraid to pass the message along.
